Winter wonderland, twilight markets added to Carols in the Park

2018-11-26

A winter wonderland snow zone, twilight markets, free candles from sponsor USC and free face painting are new additions to this year’s Carols in the Park in Maryborough on December 9.

Robyn Peach, event manager for Fraser Coast Tourism & Events, said the much-loved annual event would be held in conjunction with the Apex Santa Fair in Queens Park.

“The fair runs from 2.30pm until 5.30pm and includes train rides, $2 face painting, jumping castles and mini-Ferris-wheel rides,” she said.

“Event goers will also be able to buy $1 tickets for the chance to win hams, meat vouchers and toys when they spin the wheel. And don’t forget to grab a show bag for $1 to go into the draw to win a children’s bike.”

Mrs Peach said anyone looking for a unique Christmas gift could stroll around the stalls selling handmade arts and crafts at the inaugural Twilight Christmas Markets which opened at 4pm.

“There’ll also be some fun arts and crafts activities to entertain the kids,” she said.

“At 5.30pm, the carols will begin and we’ll be handing out 3000 candles for free thanks to the generosity of sponsor USC.

“Bring your best singing voice, a picnic rug and a folding chair to enjoy the evening’s entertainment and dinner from one of the food stalls.

“Kids can have their faces painted for free and play around in the winter wonderland snow zone but they should also keep an eye out for Harvey the Whale who will be making a special appearance during the night along with Santa and Mary Christmas.

“The festivities will finish with the Ergon Energy fireworks finale which starts at 8pm.”
