Fireworks at 8pm cap off family-friendly New Year's Eve party

2018-12-12

Revellers should dress in their best beach party costume to make the most of the family-friendly 2018 New Year’s Eve By The Beach festivities at Torquay on December 31.

Robyn Peach, event manager for Fraser Coast Tourism & Events, said prizes would be given to the best dressed adult and child aged 12 years or under.

She said the winners would receive $100 vouchers from Aquavue Café Watersports and the runner-up in the children’s category would take home a $50 voucher from Timezone.

“Bring your picnic rug or chair down to Bill Fraser or Ernie Organ parks from 4pm when the market and food stalls open and enjoy the entertainment until the fireworks display at 8pm,” Mrs Peach said.

“We’ll have a pipe band on stage at 4pm ahead of the main act which starts at 5pm.

“Maryborough band Fading Echo will be playing and they’re a young group of mates who will create a great atmosphere with their rock covers.”

She said for the price of a gold coin, people could enjoy a game of Laser Skirmish and children could join in craft activities.

Mrs Peach said the celebration would also include children’s rides, a jumping castle and face painting to amuse the youngsters.
