Fraser Coast Business and Tourism Awards now open!

2019-06-04

Submissions for the region’s premier annual industry gongs, the 2019 Fraser Coast Business and Tourism Awards, are now open with nominees able to access a new website which will simplify the entry process.

Organisers expect an increase in the 120 nominations received for the awards last year, with new bursaries planned for some categories in 2019.

Now entering their eighth year, the annual Business and Tourism Awards provide an opportunity for business and tourism enterprises to be recognised amongst peers as the most successful on the Fraser Coast.

Businesses are able to nominate in 22 award categories, ranging across tourism, healthcare, manufacturing, education, marketing, innovation, customer service, non-profit and retail. The three final awards – Business of the Year, the John Craig-Gardiner Memorial Award and inductees to the Hall of Fame – are made separately by the judges.

Winners will be announced at a gala function on Friday November 1 at the newly-renovated Carriers Arms Hotel in Alice Street, Maryborough, with more than 300 expected to attend. Special buses will be provided for those attending from Hervey Bay.

The awards are organised by Fraser Coast Tourism & Events in partnership with the Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Tiaro chambers of commerce.

FCTE general manager, Martin Simons, said the awards were an important opportunity for the business community to pay tribute to the best, as well as rewarding the innovators making a difference to the Fraser Coast economy.

“This year emphasis will be placed on nominees as well as winners, because to be selected for judging is an achievement in itself.

“The awards are a perfect opportunity to pay kudos to all local businesses.”

Platinum sponsor Hyne Timber leads a number of progressive companies who sponsor award categories.
